The Cimarron (Kansas) Church of the Nazarene wrote to NMI and said, “For Mother’s Day and Father’s Day, our church would like to donate to a Nazarene orphanage instead of giving small gifts to moms and dads.” They then asked how they would go about doing that. We thought it was such a great idea that we decided to share it. Mother’s Day and Father’s Day are several months away, but that gives your church plenty of time to plan.
While there are not a lot of Nazarene orphanages, there are many orphans. The best way to help them is to go to the Nazarene Compassionate Ministries Web site (www.ncm.org), search for “orphan”.
Several links will be displayed. By clicking on each one, you can read a description of the project, where it is, and see how much each project will cost. There are differing amounts depending on the project. Be sure to read the whole description, as there are sometimes multiple donation options for projects.
Print the project descriptions to compare them all side-by-side. Work with your local NMI council and your pastor to determine which will best fit your church.
Start planning for Mother’s Day and Father’s Day now, and make this year a memorable one for your church and for orphans around the world.
